Dig This Invercargill is New Zealand’s only heavy equipment playground. Step outside your comfort zone and get behind the controls of bulldozers, diggers or skid steers. Fully instructed, you don't need any experience, or even a driver's licence - just a willingness to give it a go.
It depends on what floats your boat. Dig This Invercargill gives visitors the chance to have a go at controlling a digger, skid steer or bulldozer with each activity giving visitors a completely different experience. Your safety is paramount and while Dig This is an incredibly fun experience, we take health and safety completely seriously.
From the moment you arrive you'll be made to feel comfortable and at-ease by our friendly, experienced team.
All rides are fully-instructed, and all (except Mini Digs) include a safety lesson in our classroom prior to your experience. During this safety briefing, your instructor will walk you through everything you need to know to operate your machinery safely. We have strict health and safety policies, including age restrictions, and all participants are breath-tested before they get onto the field (we have a zero-tolerance policy).
You’re in safe hands when you’re at Dig This Invercargill.
Dig This Invercargill prides itself on being an experience almost everybody can get involved in. However, we do have a couple of rules in place to make sure your experience is a safe one.
Legislative age requirements apply to our machines: these age limits are the law and have been set to ensure everybody has a safe, enjoyable experience out in our giant gravel pit. Children as young as 5 can take part!
Participants must have a good comprehension of spoken English – you and your instructor must be able to communicate with one another throughout your time on the field.
Dig This Invercargill is an inclusive and accessible experience. Those with disabilities can get involved in the fun too: talk to the team to find out how we can help make your day out happen.
Advance bookings are recommended – we are popular! It's also beneficial to pre-book online as we offer a 10% discount. This discount is not available if you choose to book on-site. All group bookings must be made with four days’ notice.
Never fear – you’re not going to get dirty (unless you want to!).
You’ll be kitted out with things like a high-vis vest, but you don’t need to go to much trouble in terms of attire. Light layers are recommended (this is an outdoor experience, but the cabs can get pretty toasty).
The only thing you must wear is closed-toe shoes.
Spectators are more than welcome – Dig This Invercargill is a crowd-pleaser! Up to 100 people can be on-site at Dig This at any one time. All spectators must remain in the Dig This viewing platform and are not permitted on the field.
Just a willingness to give it a go – be prepared to leave Dig This Invercargill with a massive smile on your face!
